Bring your students along to this spectacular and educational ARTIS-Micropia experience as well as the historical exhibition in DSM’s historic Grote Kantoor in Delft.

From 12 September to 15 December 2019 – Wateringseweg 1, 2611 XT Delft
Opening hours: Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 10:30 to 16:30

The invisible world of microbes

Find out how they can make you and the world around you better and healthier. Microbes are the smallest and most powerful organisms on our planet. We can learn a great deal from them, including information about our health, alternative energy sources and who knows what else. An era of great revolutionary discoveries in the micro-world is only just beginning.

The ARTIS-Micropia experience opens a window into the world of microorganisms. Pupils are taught about the role of microbes in the production of food, dairy products and alcoholic drinks, for example, in a way they can understand.  For example, they can use a joystick to select products on a belt and answer questions about them. They also learn how microscopically small organisms can solve major global issues, such as famine, climate change, scarcity of fossil fuels, environmental pollution and the outbreak of disease.

Yeast in Delft - The cradle of meaningful innovations for 150 years now

Take a journey through time. Watch and listen to the stories dating back to when the Nederlandsche Gist- en Spiritusfabriek was founded in 1869 by patriarch Jacques van Marken, stories about how baker's yeast is made, and how fermentation led to the advent of biotech and ultimately to the creation of the Biotech Campus Delft.
